Mental Performance Consulting

Sharpen your focus. Confidently handle pressure. Carry your mind with resilience.

Life as an athlete, musician, musician, or high achiever can feel like a constant balancing act. You’re trying to manage school, training, rehearsals, relationships, and future goals, all while dealing with performance jitters and burnout. That is where Mental Performance Consulting at Wellness in Mind Therapy comes in.

What this Is About

I’m Nick Rogell, MA, LPCC, CMPC. I help people like you overcome performance anxiety, distraction, and feeling mentally stuck. My work leans on proven approaches like ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), CBT, and mindfulness to help you manage stress, set goals, and perform with clarity. Whether it’s before game time, a solo on stage, or big deadlines, I’ll teach you tools to feel more mentally flexible, confident, and grounded.

Who I Work With

  • College and professional athletes
  • Musicians, performers, and public speakers
  • Anyone under pressure to perform, whether that’s sports, academics, or stage
  • Young adults facing performance slumps, burnout, or burnout recovery
  • C-suite executives and professionals managing high-pressure roles

If you’re aged 18 or older and trying to do high-level work while managing stress, you’re in the right place.

How It Helps

When we work together, we’ll build mental strategies like:

  • Performance routines for calm and focus
  • Inner talk that supports rather than sabotages you
  • Mindfulness exercises to stay present
  • Visualization that suits your own style
  • Goal-setting that motivates without overwhelming

Together, these tools help you manage stress, build confidence, protect against burnout, and stay ready when it matters.

Why This Works

My approach comes from both personal experience and clinical training. I’m a former college athlete with a master’s in counseling. I also have advanced training in Sport and Performance Psychology as outlined by the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP) as a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC). All of this just means I speak your language, understand the real pressure you face, and have the training and experience to help you successfully navigate the obstacles you’re facing

Are sessions available in person or online?

At Wellness in Mind Therapy, sessions are offered online only through a secure and private telehealth platform. This gives you the flexibility to connect from anywhere in Ohio or Kentucky, whether you’re at school, home, or traveling for competitions or performances. Online therapy makes it easier to fit sessions into your schedule without extra stress.

What states are you licensed in?

Nick Rogell, MA, LPCC, CMPC, is a licensed therapist in Ohio and Kentucky. If you’re located in either state, you can book sessions confidently knowing your care meets all state licensing requirements.

Do you work with kids or teens?

Typically, therapy at Wellness in Mind focuses on young adults ages 18 and older. However, on a case-by-case basis, Nick works with clients 16 and up if it feels like a good fit. If you’re unsure, the free 15-minute consultation is a great way to discuss whether this would work for you or your teen.

How long is a typical session?

Most sessions last 50 minutes to one hour. This allows enough time to focus on your goals, build effective coping strategies, and leave each session with clarity and direction.

How often would we meet?

The frequency of therapy sessions is collaborative and based on your needs. Many clients start with weekly sessions for the first three weeks to establish momentum, then adjust together to biweekly or monthly depending on your progress and goals.

Do you work with athletes from any sport?

Yes. Whether you play soccer, basketball, golf, tennis, baseball, or compete in less traditional sports, mental performance skills are teachable and transferable. Nick has extensive experience working with athletes at every level, including college, professional, and recreational players, helping them strengthen focus, confidence, and mental resilience.

Do you work with executives and high performers?

Absolutely. Nick works with C-suite executives, entrepreneurs, and professionals who want to improve focus, stress management, decision-making, and performance under pressure. The same mental strategies that help athletes succeed can be applied to leaders balancing high-stakes roles.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, Wellness in Mind Therapy accepts insurance. Coverage depends on your plan, and we recommend contacting your provider directly to confirm your benefits. We’ll gladly help guide you through the process and discuss payment options if needed.
