About Me

Hello and welcome to my private practice page! Here is a little bit about me.

Clinical Experience

I started my professional career at the Eastern Kentucky University Counseling Center in Richmond, KY in 2015. While there I provided individual and group therapy to currently enrolled students with a wide array of presenting issues. EKU is also where I gained a wealth of clinical experience working with student-athletes, teams, coaches, and athletic support staff.

In August 2020 I started my private practice part-time while still working at EKU. In June 2021, I made the tough decision of stepping away from the EKU Counseling Center to pursue my private practice work full time.

Clinically, I have worked with a variety of presenting issues. I also have experience presenting on mental health related topics and issues, as well as conducting athlete and team workshops.

My theoretical approach is integrative, uses an Acceptance and Commitment framework (ACT), while incorporating cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness interventions.

In addition to being a fully licensed therapist in the commonwealth of Kentucky and state of Ohio, I am also a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC), a certification that demonstrates competence in the field of sport psychology, via the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP).

Education

I attended Indiana Tech on an academic and athletic scholarship (Men’s Basketball), graduating Magna Cum Laude with a bachelors degree in psychology in 2009.

My experience as a college athlete is a big part of what lead me in the direction of becoming a mental health professional. I have learned first-hand that we all struggle at different times and chapters in our lives, but we don’t have to do it alone.

After undergrad, I took a gap year and worked as a research assistant in the Kinesiology department at Michigan State University, before starting the Masters of Arts in Counseling program at Eastern Michigan University. I completed my Masters in 2015 with a clinical internship at Ball State University’s counseling center in Muncie, Indiana.
